Harry Brown

Harry’s passion for Biology at Humphrey Perkins set him on a path to neuroscience — today he studies Parkinson’s disease as a Postdoctoral Scientist in the US.

Harry’s interest in science began during his time at Humphrey Perkins, where Biology was his favourite subject. He credits specific teachers for encouraging curiosity in the subject, even at a young age.

After leaving Humphrey Perkins, Harry studied at Rawlins Sixth Form, then completed a BSc in Biomedical Science at Coventry University. His academic journey continued with a year in Spain studying biotechnology, before moving to the United States to earn a PhD in Biochemistry at Florida International University.

Harry is now a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Florida International University, working in the field of neuroscience and drug development. His research focuses on Parkinson’s disease, using both cell and animal models to understand how the condition progresses and spreads within the brain. “With this information, we aim to identify drugs that can better treat the disease,” Harry explains.

Looking ahead, Harry hopes to open his own company focused on drug development. His journey shows how early interests in science, combined with hard work and global experience, can lead to groundbreaking work in medical research.
