Krak-ing Poland Trip
During the half-term break, we took 51 Humphrey Perkins students on a four-day school residential trip to Krakow in Poland.Designed to provide Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture of a new country, the trip also allowed those studying History GCSE to make links to their classroom learning.
While there, our young learners were able to visit some significant sites including Auschwitz-Birkenau, The Wieliczka Salt Mine, Schindler's Factory, Polonia Wax Museum and Krakow's Jewish Quarter.
The highlight for many, though, was the opportunity to meet Holocaust survivor Monika Goldwasser and hear her testimony first-hand.
Students thoroughly enjoyed the trip. They found informative and eye-opening as they expanded upon their existing knowledge and learned more about some of the darkest chapters in human history.
A huge thank-you to our five staff volunteers, who kindly gave up their half-term week to support on this trip, which allowed it to take place.
